An Apology You Can Live With

Write an apology that is honest and steady, not grovelling and not half-hearted.

Purpose: Write an apology that is honest and steady, not grovelling and not half-hearted.

When to use: Use this when you owe someone an apology and do not know how to start.

Worksheet prompts

  1. Name it in one sentence. What exactly are you sorry for?
No 'but' anywhere in the sentence.
  2. What did it do to them? Say that part out loud too.
  3. Tick anything you are tempted to add. Then leave it out.
  4. What will you do differently? One thing, small enough that you will actually do it.

Short and honest beats long and desperate. Then let them decide what to do with it.
