Getting Past Small Talk

Practice for the bit after hello, when you never know what to say next.

Purpose: Practice for the bit after hello, when you never know what to say next.

When to use: Use this before something where you will have to talk to people.

Worksheet prompts

  1. Where does the talking usually stall for you?
After hello. When it goes quiet. When they ask about me.
  2. Write three questions you could ask someone that are not about the weather.
What has your week been like? What are you up to this weekend?
  3. Write three things about yourself you would not mind sharing.
  4. How will you end the talk when you want to? Write the line.

Small talk is a door, not the room. You only have to get through it.
